Heavy looping summer soul vibes here and they are pretty lovely. Funkommunity are New Zealand duo Isaac Aesili and Rachel Fraser and this video was directed by Stinger Bell in Hamburg.
Dandilion will be released as a digital single on 3 April and is lifted from the album Chequered Thoughts, forthcoming on Melting Pot Music.
The last Hot Chip album One Life Stand left me a little cold. Whilst it had a couple of standout moments it felt like more of the same after two stronger abums. This, the first track taken from Hot Chips forthcoming fifth album In Our Heads, has me excited to hear what comes next.
In Our Heads is due out on Domino (a change from Parlophone) on 11 June 2012.
Allo Darlin' continue their onslaught onto my heart with their beautiful straight forward alt-folk pop records. 'Capricornia' has a chorus that instantly feels like you already know it. This has just a little more edge than 'My Heart is a Drummer' but it's just as wistful.
This video was directed by Nik Vestberg and Grant Wilkinson and 'Capricornia' (out now) is the first single lifted from Allo Darlin's second album Europe, due in May 2012 on Fortuna POP!
Fact magazine have suggested LHF might be dubstep's great hope. A bold claim given they haven't even released an album yet... But that is set to change with April's double disc Keepers of the Light.
I'll reserve judgement for a little longer but based on the Skely Tor directed video for 'Akashic Visions' above, things are promising. The sound feels utterly timeless, boasting an appreciation of everything that has happened in the UK urban electronic scene since jungle.
Exciting stuff. Keepers of the Light is released on 2 April as a 2 x CD and digital release through Keysound Recordings.
Last year Domino put out an EP of cover versions from Franz Ferdinand's Tonight album for Record Store Day, with versions by Stephin Merrit, Peaches and LCD Soundsystem amongst others. They are now about to release a series of remixes of these cover versions and have recently put out a video for each cover.
The remixes themselves feel a little bit hit and miss but the most exciting is certainly Brennan Green's remix of 'Live Alone', which draws from the original as well as both LCD Soundsystem and Debbie Harry's covers. Check it out:
The above mixes are taken from 12" 2, you can check out the other mixes here.
Of the 'original' covers I'm predictably smitten with the LCD one - if you haven't heard it check out the new video directed by Gabriel Pulecio below:
The remixes come out on 19 March and Franz Ferdinand are to headline London's Field Day on Saturday 2 July.
