Stream: Mirrors - Ryan Vail

Following on from his recent track Wounds, classical music inspired Derry-based artist Ryan Vail is back with another track from his forthcoming album For Every Silence.  

Mirrors is another delicately crafted piece of music, Vail's vocals delicately scrawled against the softly beating heartbeat of the track's drum track. Minimal keys half play a melody, a backing to Vail pouring his heart out whilst his wife Katie provides subtly backing vocal effects. Hints of Matthew Dear can be heard here, but it also feels like Moby back during his most naked and Exposed mid-90s period. 

EP Review: For Ever More - My Favourite Robot ft Northern Lite

Teaming up for this new release on Be Free are My Favorite a Robot and indie electronic artists Northern Lite. Together they have made For Ever More, a dreamy, dubby trip of a record. 

The original version is full of spaced out vocals and piercing synths. Chugging bass throbs beneath rapid rhythmic percussion.  The result is a deliberately paced record, full of fizzing attitude and glorious melodies. The Club Mix pushes out the length and amps up a clattering drum loop whilst a No Vocal version drops out most (but not all) of the vocal. 

Rounding out the release is a remix by Marvin & Guy, known for their releases on Jon Talabot's Hivern Discs and Young Adults. Here they create a brooding climatic minimal take that you can check out in full above. 

Stream: Where The Hell Are My Friends - LANY

Here LANY uncover another slice of millennial paranoia and dissatisfaction in the form of Where The Hell Are My Friends.

This new track uses LANY's trademark soft synth sound to create an emotive 80s influenced pop meets modern electronic R&B. The band focus on the line "Friday, wine, and the internet, the only love i seem to get"... If that isn't a line to encapsulate the anxiety of the modern age, I don't know what is.

Premier: Unknown - Luka Sol feat. Natalie M

Following on from previous track Physical, LA-based artist Luka Sol is back with new track Unknown.  

Recorded at the artist's Sol studios in Wyoming before being production was finalised at Crossroads of the World in LA. Unknown is the first single from Luka Sol featuring a guest vocalist and Natalie peppers the track with sumptuous vocals amidst Luka Sol's trademark sunny production and own vocals. 

Expect a series of further singles from Luka Sol over the next year. 

Stream: Two Feet Off The Ground - Sara Hartman

Sara Hartman just followed up on her debut track from last year with new release Two Feet Off The Ground.

Monster Lead Me Home thrusted Hartman into the limelight last year, generating almost ten million online streams and a hat tip from Spotify, who named her one of their Spotlight for 2016 artists. Two Feet Off The Ground was written in just a day and, in the singer's own words, "...is a don’t think, just follow your instincts kind of tune". On her inspiration for the song, Hartman, who used to live alone in Berlin, explains "I read an old saying in a book about Weimar Berlin, that there was something in the air in this city that made you want to dance."
