I featured Lyves almost a year ago when she released track Visions. Now close to releasing her debut EP she has just unveiled this frankly heart-stopping new track, Shelter. Absolutely gorgeous.
Stream: Get It Up - Pr0files
Pr0files managed to make a late bid to become one of my favourite acts of last year with their killer electro ballad Forgive, which sounded like it came straight out of the mind of Ryan Gosling's character in Drive.
The LA duo are back with their first new track of 2015, Get It Up, and it picks up pretty much where they left off. Having first collaborated seven years ago it feels like 2015 could be Lauren Pardini and Danny Sternbaum's best year yet.
Get It Up is the band's most disco moment yet - a bluesy celebratory declaration of a determination to rise above it all. The brassy electronic bass retains the sleek 80s influenced sound that made Forgive so great, but this track overall feels like the natural conclusion to the breakdown that record encapsulated. Where Forgive sounded like it was first sung into the mirror, Get It Up feels like it has been hurled at a dancefloor in defiance - the moment you really move on is the first point at which you stop looking back.
Stream: Rituals - Maribou State
Gorgeous track from duo Maribou State, who have recently signed to Ninja Tune imprint Counter Records and are set to release their debut album Portraits later this year. Expect lots of lush analogue sounding synth work, looped beats and reverb heavy vocals. It's a little bit Caribou, a little bit Four Tet. In other words: it's very good.
Stream: Intergalactic - Young Wonder
This week Cork duo Young Wonder have taken the wraps of their first new track in over a year, and it's... erm... a corker?! Dreamy melodies swirl around cosmic rhythms full of a weightless sense of deep space.
Love this. Also check out older track To You below, just because it is awesome.
Stream: Mine (The Jane Doze Remix) - Phoebe Ryan
I'm mainly only about stuff to do with Phoebe Ryan these days, so when this lovely mix of her new single Mine drop into my inbox I couldn't resist. Particularly given it has basically the cutest artwork ever.
The Jane Doze are NYC-based production and DJ duo Jen Mozenter and Claire Schlissel - check out more of their work on Soundcloud.
