Following on from Alpines' video for Oasis comes another nice video for new single No Other Lover. I'm all over the warm electronic soul sound the band going on with their recent releases - the album, also entitled Oasis, will be out on 26 May and is clearly one to look out for...
Stream: Visions - Lyves
Take a moment out and listen to this lovely track from Lyves, real name Francesca Bergami, who comes from North London via Italy and Australia. Influences apparently include Bill Withers, Seal, Air, Boards of Canada, Erykah Badu, Fleetwood Mac and Philip Glass... Which is quite a list.
EP Review: Dimension E.P. - Paji
This new EP from Germany's Paji sees him teaming up with Kitt Ball's Juliet Sikora and the pair create an approachable, refined take on house.
That title track is polished and refined, both Paji and Sikora's production styles demonstrating an attention to detail in the snap and crack of the drum patterns. Electronic chords give the track a deep, moody sound and the vocal sparring lends the track a sassy edge. Dimention is minimal-esque in, the tough and slow sound cool but eminently accessible.
Lacerta backs the release and represents a solo production for Paji. A guitar lick gives the track a lightness that contrasts with some heavy beat work... And whenever I hear guitars in dance music like this I can never understand why they are so rare. Sexy as hell.
Dimension E.P. is out through Kittball now.
Stream: Love - Blak Movie
Debian Blak has been a bit of a regular on my blog for his lush fuzzy electro soul joints, and this one is no slouch. Love is from Blak Movie, a collaboration between Debian Blak and Boy In A Movie, and comes from the double A-side Give Up / Love, out on 5 May.
Stream: Ivory - Movement
Movement follow up their alienated and paranoid single Us with something a little different. Less sparse, Ivory packs a fuller and more soulful sound that suggests their album may be even more interesting than anticipated... Dig that guitar solo!
