Premier: Futureproof (Amateur Best Remix) - Christa Vi

Ahead of the release of her debut album Christa Vi has recently taken the wraps off of her single Futureproof, combining soft synths and strident soulful vocals to create a breathless R&B track.

Now Christa is sharing this, a more leftfield wonky minimalist version created by indie pop artist Amateur Best (real name Joe Flory). Christa's influences apparently include both Jessy Lanza and Roisin Murphy's Moloko, and echoes of both can be heard here.

Flory describes the thinking behind the remix, "I wanted to create a version of the song that was a bit more moody and mellow than the original".

Christa Vi's debut album Makeshift Happiness is planned for release on 25 November 2016.

Stream: Can't Remember How It Feels - Chinah

Easily one of the acts I’m most excited about, Chinah blew me away last year with their slinky robotic 90s R&B stormer We Go Back, a record, a track that fizzed with nervous, urgent sensuality.

We haven't heard much from the Copenhagen trio since their debut EP Once The Lights Are On until now, with their new single Can't Remember How It Feels a similarly slinky and carefully executed piece of electronic R&B.

The band explain the meaning behind the track as follows:

Lyrically, the song is about being out of touch with your feelings. With age comes the realization that most things have an ending, and the song is written in that ‘realist’ state of mind where you seem to have forgotten the childish fantasy of romantic love as invincible and ever-lasting. Relationships end, friendships change over time, and ideas of life you thought would stick to your mind suddenly seem pointless and vauge. This realization hits you transiently, but when it happens it feels really intense.

Following on from his recent track Tell You, musician and DJ Pusher is back with a new track from his EP New Laces.

With guest vocals from Nashville artist Cappa, Fences continues Pusher's trademark kitchen-sink approach to production, some dark bass on the chorus contrasting the playful sound of the rest of the track.

Stream: Look Back In Laughter - Hugh

Back with their first new track since January's Direction, Hugh have recently taken the wraps off of Look Back In Laughter.

The new track comes in celebration of the Hugh's live London show at Electrowerkz on 12 October. Look Back In Laughter is another dose of the band's inclusive positivity, with a clear message for those that feel the weight of events on their shoulders... I think most of us have been there. Discussing the song's origin, band member Josh said:

"I'd been working as a barman for a while when Hugh started out. Long night shifts that often had more than a few bad moments in them and would leave me exhausted at the end. What usually got me through was the knowledge that at the end of our shift we'd all sit down, ching tips, retell our fave horror stories and laugh. It was rarely funny when it was happening, only in the past. "No long face, you'll laugh about it later" was what we're told each other (sic). When Andy and I made the first topline, I remembered that phrase and the rest followed."
